Twenty-five years in, still building.

I started in April 2001 as a web designer and developer at Rotech Systems, the kind of first job where you learn HTML by breaking it. Twenty-five years on, I've moved through GUI team lead, tech lead, project lead, senior UX architect, and principal UX designer, at CMC, Verizon, Optum, and Oracle, on products used by call-center representatives, cruise-ship crew, hospital admin staff, and reservations teams. What hasn't changed is the instinct that got me there in the first place: sit with the person actually using the thing before touching a wireframe.

In September 2024, after over two decades in enterprise software, I stepped back from that world and put my name on my own work again at WittySparks, the site I quietly started as a side project back in 2007. These days that means brand and website work for clients like HS Health Group and Nijilvasukutty.co.uk, hands-on SEO and marketing, and, more recently, teaching myself to design and ship AI-assisted products end to end, no engineering team required. This site is one of them.

I still care about the same things I did on day one: interfaces that respect the person holding the device, accessibility that's built in rather than bolted on (I've authored ARIA developer guides used company-wide at two different companies), and work judged by what it does for someone, not how it looks in a deck.
