Oracle Hospitality Cruise: Guest Check-In, Redesigned in 15 Days
Design
Problem
Check-in staff needed to verify guest details and issue check-in cards on a specific rugged tablet with a fixed, small resolution and defined touch targets. A large amount of guest information had to fit on screen without scrolling, and the whole redesign carried a hard 15-day deadline, too tight for a normal wireframe-to-Hi-Fi process.
Approach
- Designed directly against the rugged tablet's exact resolution and touch-target constraints instead of a generic mobile breakpoint.
- Prioritized and grouped guest information so the essential check-in details fit on one screen without scrolling.
- Skipped low-fidelity wireframes given the timeline and went straight to high-fidelity screens to keep the 15-day deadline realistic.
Outcome
A check-in interface built for the exact hardware it runs on, shipped inside the 15-day window without cutting any required guest information.
